Bottle of expired Hoodia pills?

Okay, so I have a cheap prescription drugs without prescription bottle of Hoodia pills. They expired in January of this year. If I took them, would they still work?
I would not take them. I actually think they slow down the metabolism, so who knows if they are expired it may be worse or have other side effects.
